My School Website Information
Scenario
Part 1: A Permanent Position
All of Paragraph 2 - "Amy's new school, Park Hill Public School (PHPS) was located in a public housing estate community that had been established in 1976 in Sydney's south west..."
All of Paragraph 3- "Despite the social disadvantage of the suburb Park Hill, the school had a committed and dedicated staff that created a safe learning environment for the students..."
Part One presents the sea of information that Amy needs to take into consideration on her appointment to the school. Amy feels overwhelmed by the information she has received as there is much to grasp in a short period of time. Due to influx of new statistics, rental market background, student and staff information, Amy would be wise to research the school and local area using the My School website.

What is the My School website?
The My School website is created by Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA). This recent 2010 concept allows Amy to search for PHPS by name, location or postcode. On this site, Amy will be able to navigate her way through the system to find details on School Description, School Sector, School Type, Enrolments, Academic Results (specifically NAPLAN) and School Finances. This search will direct her to a personalised website just for her newly appointed school. This website will include information about staff, students, mathematics and literacy programs in place, uniforms, activities, calender dates, etc. This technology allows Amy to take a community perspective on the school and its contribution to the area. Amy is encouraged to continue to use this method of research to keep up to date with current school issues/successes, maintain contact with parents and remain involved with all areas of the school.
